Susan Luery

Bronze Sculpture

Susan Luery was born in Baltimore, and attended the Maryland Institute College of Art. Her gift for sculpting was refined in Carrara, Italy, where she worked with Alberto Sparapani, maestro sculptor renown for Italy’s Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Her early work delved into romantic and mythological subjects and was soon recognized by private collectors. Susan's Promethean Radiation was presented to Prince Charles and Princess Diana on the occasion of their wedding in 1981. Best known for such monumental works as Babe’s Dream, the 16-foot monument to Babe Ruth standing in front of Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, and the Cal Ripken, Jr. Monument, welcoming fans to his museum in Aberdeen, Maryland, Susan's work can be found in private, public and museum collections throughout the world. This includes the Naples Philharmonic Sculpture Garden, the National Gallery of Bermuda, the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, and Oregon Ridge, the summer home for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
