Spirit Nests
In the great Sonoran desert, the giant Saguaro Cacti are known to the Yaqui people as the sentinels of Mother Earth and guardians of the desert. All parts of the Saguaro are considered protection medicine by Yaqui elders. Gilded flickers, gila woodpeckers, and pygmy owls carve their nests into the Saguaro cactus. These nests are called "boots" when they are found within the ribs of long-fallen Saguaros and are usually very old since Saguaros live to be in the range of fity to three hundred years old..
Spirit Nests are intended to be sacred containers for Good Spirits to live in, while protecting the energy of your home. They are made with the Saguaro boot, delicate Barrel Cactus thorns, and lined with soft rabbit fur; each one is totally unique. A Spirit Nest is a wonderful housewarming gift and can even be given long after someone has moved into their home.
These nests are gathered in a good way by native elders and only from long-fallen skeletons. We harvest no more than 50 a year. And 20% of revenue is gifted to the Yaqui/O'odham nations.
